Terry Wayne Stidham

Funeral Services will be held 3:00PM Monday 9/5/22 at Mathiston First Baptist Church with burial in Spring Valley Cemetery in Mathiston, MS. Visitation will be 1:00PM until 3:00PM Monday 9/5/22 at Mathiston First Baptist Church. Rev. Dan Robertson and Rev. Archie Goodwin will officiate. Pallbearers will be; Corey Stidham, Brent, Cole and Clay Gholston, Cliff Shurden and Todd Brown. Honorary Pallbearers will be; "Anyone who ever held a shovel for Terry". Terry is survived by his wife; Willette Pressly Stidham, two daughters; Jodi Stidham and Holly Stidham (Tony) Loper, brother; James "Jamie" (Linda) Stidham, two sisters; Teresa (Keylon) Gholston and Melanie (Teddy) Warn, and three grandchildren; Hayes, Whitt and Tate Loper, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; George and Margaret Miles Stidham. The family requests any memorials be made to the Mathiston First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 2177, Tupelo, MS 38803 Terry was the oldest of four children and took his role of "Big Brother" very seriously up until his last days. This role often included scaring his mother and sisters when he was younger and fiercely looking out for them as he got older. It also included "teaching" his younger brother Jamie, all he knew and this typically involved an argument. Some even said they would buy a ticket to watch the two of them work together. Everyone seems to have a 'Terry and Jamie' story, but contrary to what you would think, these two were about as close as they come. Another role Terry took very seriously was that of husband and father. Terry was married to Willette (Pressly) for 50 years. They were the perfect compliment to one another and you hardly thought of one without the other. In fact, it was not uncommon to see Willette at a jobsite, possibly even in the ditch. Terry has two daughters, Jodi Stidham and Holly Stidham Loper He taught his girls many lessons, but perhaps most notable were the proper way to sweep a carport and the importance of church attendance, but not in shorts. He was also eager to teach his three grandsons, Hayes, Whitt and Tate, how to drive equipment and the value of a good western. Terry had a big impact on the lives of many of the young men who worked for him as well. It is certain that they have lot of work stories and these stories are probably much funnier now than when they happened. Work was perhaps Terry's favorite thing, especially when this work involved serving others. In recent years, Terry has enjoyed combining his work with his faith by participating in Alaskan Mission Trips and local disaster relief. He will be greatly missed by all, but there is no doubt he is now enjoying the best Southern Gospel music and maybe a good western.
