Sammy Lee Patterson was born on September 22, 1952 to the late Mr. Leslie B. and Mrs. Christine Draine Patterson in Eupora, MS. Sammy was called to his eternal home on Sunday, May 5, 2024. At an early age, Sammy joined Mount Union Missionary Baptist Church in Eupora, MS. He graduated Eupora High School in 1970. Sammy served in the United States Army National Guard for many years where he obtained many medals, badges and citations. He served in Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Sammy is survived by his three sons; Gregory (Marlena) Patterson of Brandon, MS, Tony (Annithia) Patterson of Garland, TX and Daren Patterson of Eupora, MS, four brothers; Willie (Doris) Patterson, Clyde (Dot) Patterson, Larry (Judy) Patterson and David Loyd Patterson all of Eupora, MS, four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, one great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Sammy was preceded in death by his loving wife; Alena Patterson, his parents; Mr. Leslie B. Patterson and Mrs. Christine Draine Patterson, two daughters; Karen Patterson and Samantha Cullum, one son; Kevin Beckom, two grandsons; Jerome Cullum and Shemetrick Cullum, two sisters; Shirley Ann Patterson and Sarah Patterson Morton and five brothers; James Leslie Patterson, Thomas Patterson, Hugh Lee Patterson, Carl Davis Patterson and James Curtis Patterson. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Eupora, MS. A time of visitation for relatives and friends will be on Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 12Noon until time for services at 2:00PM. Burial will follow with military honors at Piney Jordan Cemetery in Webster County, MS. Rev. Harvey Conley will officiate. Pallbearers will be James Curtis Patterson, Cody Patterson, Chris Sawyer, Lay Lay Hemphill, Theo Hemphill and Al Dumas. Honorary Pallbearers are Willie Patterson, Larry Patterson, Clyde Patterson, David Loyd Patterson, Gregory Patterson, Tony Patterson and Daren Patterson. Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora is in charge of all arrangements.
