Funeral Services will be held 2:00PM Sunday 7/17/22 at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Clear Springs Cemetery in Oktibbeha County, Ms. The Graveside/Committal Services will be held at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel instead of Clear Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:00PM until 2:00PM Sunday 7/17/22 at Oliver Funeral Home. Ruth Ann was born March 12, 1930, in Sherwood, MS (Choctaw County), and was the beloved daughter of Noah Scarbrough Ellis and Ruth Hester Ellis. Ruth Ann married Jesse H. Oswalt (deceased) of Mathiston, MS, in 1951, riding a bus to Albuquerque, NM, to do so, and they were married for 65 years. Ruth Ann attended Blue Mountain College and Delta State University and majored in Home Economics. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Mathiston. A wonderful storyteller, she was a contributor to various efforts in recording local history. Ruth Ann is survived by her three children: Jessica (Ken Hunter) Oswalt, Cookeville, TN; Marcus (Peggy Sue) Oswalt, Mathiston, MS; and Chip Oswalt, Mathiston, MS. She is also survived by her two grandsons, Sam and Dave Matson, Cookeville, TN, loving sister Nancy (Karl, deceased) Jones; and sister-in-law Ann (Stanley, deceased) Ellis. In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her siblings: Harford (Ruby) Ellis, Mavis (Ken) Yorke, Edna (Frank) Hays, and Noah Stanley Ellis. Ruth Ann will be missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. The family requests memorials be made to a church or charity of your choice
