Roy Carroll Fondren age 89 of Mathiston, MS, passed away peacefully at North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora, MS on Monday afternoon, February 17, 2025. Roy was born in Mathiston, MS to Earnest Nolan Fondren and Donna Idell Brooks Adams on April 16, 1935. He was a member of Blythe Creek Baptist Church in Choctaw County, MS, was a member of the US Army National Guard and a retired factory worker. Mr. Roy enjoyed spending time with his family, was a hard worker and loved to hunt, fish and work in his garden. Roy is survived by two daughters, Tina (Johnny) Yerger, Madison, MS and Cindy (Al) Guynes, Madison, MS; one brother-in-law, Jerry Jackson, Cumberland, MS; four grandchildren, Andrew (Piper) Yerger, Kathryn (Ben) Simon, Caroline Yerger and Maggie Guynes; two great grandchildren, Louisa Yerger and Graeme Yerger and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Barbara Kuykendall Fondren and both parents, Earnest Nolan Fondren and Donna Idell Brooks Adams. Funeral Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Roy will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Blythe Creek Baptist Church in Choctaw County, MS. The family will receive friends and loved ones for a time of visitation on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 1:30PM until time for services at 2:00PM at Blythe Creek Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Blythe Creek Cemetery there at the church. Rev. Danny Irvin will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Jerry Riggan, T.J. Carr, Evan Carr, Johnny Yerger, Andrew Yerger and Al Guynes. Honorary Pallbearer will be Larry McClain. The Fondren family would like to express their deepest thanks to Neighbors Heart Private Care Facility; Centerwell Home Health, Jessica Skelton, Shelia Smalls and all on-call nurses; Mr. Roy's neighbors, T.J., Carolyn, Josie and Evan Carr and Jerry and Mary Riggan. The family requests that all memorials be made to Blythe Creek Cemetery Fund. Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora is honored to be entrusted with all arrangements.
