Robert Lynn Barnett

Robert Lynn Barnett, 71, of Navarre, Florida passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024. Robert was born in Eupora, Mississippi on February 23, 1953. He was the fourth child of seven born to the late R.C. and Sylvia Barnett. He attended Cumberland High School where he excelled in many sports and then attended Mississippi State University. After college, he started his lifelong career in sales as a food broker. In 1972, he married the love of his life, Sandra Tharpe. They enjoyed 51 years of fun and laughter together. He had two daughters, Carly and Kelley, that were his pride and joy. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Navarre where he served on several different committees throughout the years. He was a member of Preserve Navarre and worked tirelessly to improve the city. He was always helping others and putting their needs above his own. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, R.C. and Sylvia Barnett; his brother, Rannie Barnett; and his beloved daughter, Carly Barnett Mixon. Robert is survived by his wife, Sandra Tharpe Barnett of Navarre, Florida; daughter, Kelley (Bradley) Thornburg of Mobile, Alabama; son in law, Chad Mixon of Opp, Alabama; grandchildren, Grace Mixon, Cole Mixon, Tanner Thornburg, Harrison Thornburg, Callie Mixon and Taylor Thornburg; and five sisters. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at First Baptist Church Navarre, 9302 Navarre Parkway Navarre, Florida 32566, visitation will be from 2:30-3:30pm and service at 3:30pm. Interment will be at Clarkson Cemetery in Mathiston, Mississippi at 2:00pm on Saturday, April 6, 2024. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to First Baptist Church Navarre Children’s Ministry. A ministry that was dear to his heart.
