Orene Jones Hester

Orene Jones Hester age 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Diversicare in Eupora, MS. Orene was born March 4, 1930 in Sturgis, MS to Jim and Willie Maude Griffin Jones. Growing up in Sturgis, MS she attended Friendship Baptist Church in the Craig Springs Community. Upon finishing high school, Orene went to Louisiana where she obtained a degree in nursing. Her nursing career ultimately led her to Webster Health Services where she worked alongside Dr. Charles Ozborn and the late Dr. James E. Booth as head nurse and OR supervisor for many years. Orene is survived by her daughter; Cindy (Charles) Marx, Hattiesburg, MS, six grandchildren; Jackery Johnson, Kristin Boykin, Marlin Davis Randle, Michael Murphree, Lauren Mary Green and Dana Marx and ten great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dewitt Hester, one daughter; Christa Lane Griffin, two sisters; Ethell and Corene Sides and four brothers; William, Doc and Eugene Sides and David Jones. A Memorial Service will be held for Mrs. Hester at 4:00PM Friday, July 19, 2024, at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Eupora, MS. Visitation will begin at 3:00PM until time for services at 4:00PM Friday, July 19, 2024 at Oliver Funeral Home. Rev. Willy Weddle will officiate. Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora is in charge of all arrangements.
