Funeral Services will be held 2:00PM Thursday 2/23/23 at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Spring Valley Cemetery in Mathiston, MS. The Graveside/Committal Services will be held at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel instead of Spring Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:00PM until 2:00PM Thursday 2/23/23 at Oliver Funeral Home. Meredieth Dewitt Arnold, also known as "Bubba" by his family, passed away 2/17/23 at Brooklyn Hall Personal Care Home in Mathiston, MS. Funeral Services were held 2:00PM Thursday 2/23/23 at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Spring Valley Baptist Church Cemetery in Mathiston, MS. Bro. Charles Lee White officiated. Pallbearers were; Jeff Andrews, Meredith, Johnny, Mitchell, Michael and Bubba Johnson, Rick Arnold, Shannon Arnold and Derrick Andrews. Bubba was the oldest of two sons born to Jewel Willams and Felix Dewitt Arnold of Ackerman, MS on August 8, 1929. He attended Ackerman High School and in 1948 met a girl names Merle Johnson from Mathiston and they married that year. After living a short time in Odessa TX, they moved to Flint MI, joining other friends who worked in the automobile factories. He took a job with General Motors and was there until he retired in 1983. In Flint, he became a member of the skeet shooting club and won a room full of trophies. After retirement they built a house in Reform MS. He lived there until the summer of 2021. Bubba was a member of Spring Valley Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed the Christian fellowship of the Church until moving to Brooklyn Hall. He was very active until this time, keeping up his 12 acre yard and at 89 was still chopping wood all day for his space heater and the heater in his brother Williams Shop. Bubba was preceded in death by his wife Merle who died April 30, 2010, parents; Jewel and Felix Arnold, step mother; Billie McCool, brother; Dr. John Kenneth Arnold of Valley Center KS. He is survived by a sister; Agnes Arnold Tribble, Amory, MS, brother; Willam Oscar (Faye) Arnold, Ackerman, MS and Rev. Felix Aubrey (Beverly) Arnold, Foxworth, MS, sister in law; Peggy McCully Arnold, Valley Center, KS, two nephews, two nieces, seven great nephews, nine great nieces, three great great nephews, and nine great great nieces and a niece of Merle's, who was very close to Bubba; Lorean (Junior) Andrews, Mathiston, MS. The family would like to thank Lynn McClelland, owner of Brooklyn Hall and her staff for taking such good care of Bubba this past year and a half. Also Kindred Hospice Care for their dedication these past few weeks
