Maxie Wayne Crockett Bailey age 86, passed away on February 24, 2025, at her home in Greenville, MS surrounded by family. Maxie was born on June 3, 1938, in Whitfield, MS to Gaylen Rupert Crockett and Winnie Marie Gates Crockett. She was a 1957 graduate of Central High School, Jackson, MS. After graduating she worked in retail before meeting Tom Brown Bailey. The two were married July 1960. Mrs. Bailey was Baptist by faith. She and Mr. Bailey moved many times living in four states while working and raising a family. She was always active in church wherever she lived. Her children are thankful for her love of Christ and making sure to give us a firm foundation in our faith. Maxie is survived by three children, Charles Boyd “Pete” (Sheila) Bailey, Eupora, MS, Christie Bailey (Rob) Colvin, Eupora, MS and Gaylynn Bailey (Donnie) McHann, Greenville, MS; one brother, Dr. James R. (Dorothy) Crockett; four grandchildren, Bailey Colvin (Bryan) Smith, Katie Bailey (Max) Abner, Mary Gates Colvin (Jonathon) Baucom and Wil (Sarah) Bailey; three great grandchildren, Latham McNeer Smith, Charles Oliver Abner and Rhett Drummond Smith along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Tom Brown Bailey; her parents, Gaylen Rupert Crockett and Winnie Marie Gates Crockett and two sisters, Betty Crockett Tickell and Ruby Crockett Brooks. Funeral Services to celebrate Mrs. Maxie's life will be held at 2:00PM Friday, February 28, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Eupora, MS. Interment will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in Eupora, MS. The family will receive friends and loved ones for a time of visitation on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora from 5:30PM until 7:30PM. Mrs. Bailey's body will also lie in state at First Baptist Church of Eupora from 1:00PM until time for services on Friday, February 28, 2025. Rev. Travis Gray and Dr. James R. Crockett will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Pete Bailey, Wil Bailey, Clint Crockett, Craig Crockett, Randy Mize and Ray Bailey. The family would like to thank Joy Lehman, Latosha Wilson and staff at Magnolia Gardens, Greenville, MS. The love and care they gave kept her happy and comfortable. Memorials may be sent to Mississippi Baptist Children’s Village or Operation Shoebox Ministry at First Baptist Church, Eupora, MS.
