Mary Katherine (Gary) Potter, 93, entered into the presence of her faithful Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at North Mississippi Medical Center, Long-term Care Facility in Eupora. She was born on January 15, 1929, to Clifford and Modie (Spraberry) Gary in Webster County, Mississippi where she lived the majority of her life. She was the oldest of five children. She attended school at Bellefontaine Grammar School (where she later ended up teaching for two years), Eupora High School, Mississippi State College for Women, and Delta State Teachers College. She married Lem C Potter, Sr on May 25,1951 and they had six children, five boys and one girl. She was a charter member of Graceland Baptist Church in Memphis, TN and attended LaBelle Haven Baptist Church for the remainder of her time in Memphis. Apart from her time at home raising six children, she worked as an Assistant Accountant for seven years with Ely and Walker Distribution Center in Memphis, TN. She moved back to Eupora in 1973 where she spent the next 25 years working for the Webster County Department of Human Services as a Social Worker. She was a member of First Baptist Church and faithfully attended until she could no longer do so. To know her, was to love her. Some of the words used to describe her include meek, kind, giving, thoughtful, loving, faithful, gentle, supportive, humble, appreciative, and hard working. She loved the Lord with all her heart, soul, and mind, and never waived in her faith that God would always take care of her and provide for her no matter how tough life was. She never complained about her circumstances and always made the best of what she had. She loved her family and was a living encyclopedia of knowledge on who was related to who. She always had an open door, food to share, and a willingness to sit and talk for hours. Her purpose in life was to show the love of Jesus and she did that by caring for others even if that meant doing without for herself. She is survived by a glorious legacy that includes: four children, Lem C "Chip” (Nancy) Potter, Jr of Roanoke, VA, Lloyd Allen “Robin” (Becky) Potter of Memphis, TN, Keith Erwin Potter of Eupora, MS, and Kathy Gayle Potter (Rollin) Chapman of Holts Summit, MO, fifteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, as well as one sister, Sandra (Gary) Bailey of West Point, MS. She was preceded in death by her father, Clifford Otis Gary, Sr, mother, Modie Catherine (Spraberry) Gary, brother, Joe Brock Gary, sister, Betty Zelda (Burdine) Gary, brother, Clifford Gary, Jr, son, Charles Gary Potter, granddaughter, Shelly Katherine Potter, son, Kenneth Lowell Potter, and many other beloved family members that she has now reunited with. In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate showering the staff at North Mississippi Medical Center, Long-term Care Facility with gifts of appreciation of any kind or amount. They are the equivalent of living angels among us and took such good care of momma. We are so grateful for the love, care, and dignity they give to their residents. A special thank you as well to Dr Ozborn for his decades of service and care in looking after mom. Funeral services were Monday, October 24, 2022 at First Baptist Church in Eupora with burial in Embry Cemetery in Webster County. Rev. Travis Gray officiated. Pallbearers were Drew Potter, Seth Potter, Ethan Potter, Reagan Gary and Gerald Gary
