Eupora, MS Mrs. June Turner Shaw Funeral Services will be held 11:00AM Wednesday 12/21/22 at Eupora First Baptist Church with burial in Eupora City Cemetery in Eupora, MS. The Graveside/Committal Services will be held at Eupora First Baptist Church instead of Eupora City Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30AM until service time at 11:00AM Wednesday 12/21/22 at Eupora First Baptist Church. Funeral Services were held 11:00AM Wednesday 12/21/22 at Eupora First Baptist Church with burial in Eupora Cemetery. Rev. Travis Gray and Rev. Rob Faulk officiated. Pallbearers were; Scott Curry, Jay Curry, Patrick Curry, Rob Faulk, Joey Faulk and William Shaw. June Shaw was born August 19, 1919, in Shannon, Mississippi to Gordon Turner and Billie Turner. She died December 17, 1919, in North Mississippi Medical Center Eupora at the age of 103. Mrs. Shaw was a 1937 graduate of Shannon High School. She was graduated from Holmes Junior College in 1940 when she began her teaching career before a four year degree was required. After she completed her degree at Mississippi State College in May, 1953, she taught for 29 years at Eupora High School. She taught business courses and then completed her career as school librarian. Many of her students remember her as “the typing teacher.” In 1942 she married C. Russell Shaw. They had two sons to whom she was a wonderful mother. After retirement Russell and June spent many summers serving with Campers on Missions. Later they served as volunteers at Central Hills Baptist Retreat, Kosciusko, MS. Even after her husband’s death, she continued to serve at the Retreat. Mrs. Shaw was a member of First Baptist Church Eupora for 76 years where she volunteered as church clerk for 48 years and as librarian for 17. Also, she taught Sunday School and was an active member of Women’s Missionary Union. One of her most favorite activities was singing in the choir. Her parents, her husband and her sister, Mary, preceded her in death. She is survived by her sons Charlie Shaw and wife Patricia and Turner Shaw and wife Pam. Also, she is survived by grandchildren, Scott Curry and wife Patty, Jay Curry and wife Marsha, Patrick Curry, and Nicole Ganger and her husband Bronson, great-grandchildren, Jayson, Caleb, and Lee Curry, Jamie Clare de la Chapelle, Michael Curry, Megan Foley and husband Tim, and Ricki Lynn and Mattie Jon Ganger, and great-great-grandchildren Oliver, Detrich, and Scotty Curry, and Finley Foley. She is also survived by her caregiver and friend Louise McMullen who attended her faithfully for four years. On her 100th birthday she was honored by a proclamation from the House of Representatives District 35. Rep Joey Hood said on the occasion of her 100th birthday, “She is a gracious woman who always puts others before herself, loves her family and friends unconditionally, and worships the Lord God Almighty with all her heart…” She lived her life giving glory and honor to God.
