Funeral Services will be held 3:00PM Sunday 6/26/22 at Walthall Baptist Church in Walthall, MS with burial in the Walthall Memorial Cemetery. The Graveside/Committal Services will be held at Walthall Baptist Church instead of the Walthall Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:30PM until 3:00PM Sunday 6/26/22 at Walthall Baptist Church. The Family requests memorials be made to Walthall Memorial Cemetery, C/O Walthall Baptist Church, P. O. Box 366, Walthall, MS 39771. Mr. John Charles Stewart, 84, died 6/24/22 at the MS State Veterans Home in Kosciusko, MS. Funeral Services were held 3:00PM Sunday 6/26/22 at Walthall Baptist Church with burial in Walthall Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Charles McClellan officiated. Pallbearers were; Cody and Craig Griffin, Justin Mason, Stewart and Trey Pittman, Lawson Stewart, Brady Haynes and Brent Goodrum. John Charles was a member of Fame Church of God in Webster County. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy. He served in the Mississippi National Guard for 30 years starting at the age of 16. One year he was given an award for being the best recruiter in the state of Mississippi. He and his wife Sherlene owned and operated Stewart's TV and Appliance in Walthall for many years. He was preceded in death by his loving wife and partner; Sherlene Goodrum Stewart, his parents; Barksdale and Dora Stewart, a brother; George Stewart, and a sister; Jesse Ray. Mr. John Charles is survived by one son; Charles (Linda Lee) Stewart, Walthall, MS, four daughters; Karen (James) Griffin, Walthall, MS, Brenda (James) Mason, Walthall, MS, Judy (Greg) Pittman, Eupora, MS and Renne (Jimmy) Haynes, Grenada, MS, a sister; Bonnie Pepper, Bellefontaine, MS, eleven grandchildren; Cody (Leslie) Griffin, Craig (Bailey) Griffin, Gwen (West) Cordell, Justin (Kristen) Mason, Stewart (Beth Ann) Pittman, Trey Pittman, Karlee (Will) Prosser, Lawson (Kayla) Stewart, Brianna Haynes, Bailey (Zach) Adkins and Brady (Ashlee) Haynes and fifteen great grandchildren. The family requests memorials be made to Walthall Memorial Cemetery C/O Walthall Baptist Church, P. O. Box 766, Walthall, MS 39771.
