John Waymon Fulgham, age 82, passed away peacefully at his home on July 4, 2024. Waymon loved his family above all else, and one of his favorite things was having his family together for holidays. It is only fitting that he died on Independence Day surrounded by his family. Waymon was born on June 23, 1942 in the Sherwood Community of Choctaw County, MS to Grover and Alma Tuck Fulgham. He spent most of his career at Hewlett Industries in Starkville, MS where he worked as a department supervisor until his retirement in 2009. For the majority of his life, Waymon resided in Maben, MS. At the age of 18, he married the love of his life, Elaine. They worked side by side in all that they did throughout their marriage. Their love and devotion throughout their 63 years of marriage serves as an inspiration. Together they raised 3 children. Waymon was an active member of GreenHill Primitive Baptist Church in Weir, MS. He loved the Lord and had a deep understanding of and passion for the Scriptures. Waymon enjoyed working on his land by tending to cattle and working in the garden. He instilled the value of hard work in his children. He was a talented woodworker who used his skills to bless his children and grandchildren; many of the pieces he built will be treasured by his family for years to come. While he wasn’t working with his hands, he enjoyed watching classic westerns, often revisiting his favorites repeatedly. One of his greatest joys was teaching his grandchildren to drive. He had a blend of patience and encouragement and used these driving lessons as a bonding opportunity. He loved big gatherings, even with the chaos that a big family brings, and went out of his way to make occasions special by doing things like spending hours on Christmas light displays or staying up all night cooking on his homemade firepit. Waymon's love for his family and his influence on them will endure for years to come. Waymon is survived by his loving wife; Elaine McAlpin Fulgham, Maben, MS, one daughter; Myra (Mack) Halford, Maben, MS, two sons; Carroll (Tabitha) Fulgham, Maben, MS and Shannon (Kerry) Fulgham, Mathiston, MS, two sisters: Dorothy Curry, Madison, MS and JoAnn Scott, Sidney, OH, twenty grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by an infant son; Billy Wayne Fulgham, his parents; Grover and Alma Fulgham and one brother; Edmond Fulgham. Funeral Services will be held at 4:00PM on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Eupora, MS. Visitation will be Sunday, July 7, 2024, from 2:00PM until service time at 4:00PM at Oliver Funeral Home. Interment will be at Clear Springs Cemetery in Oktibbeha County, MS. The Graveside/Committal Services will be held at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel instead of Clear Springs Cemetery. Bro. Derrick Wilson will officiate. Pallbearers will be Mitchell Halford, Will Halford, Clay Fulgham, Nick Fulgham, Alex Fulgham and Caleb Fulgham. Honorary Pallbearers will be Isaiah Fulgham, John Fulgham and Stone Fulgham.
