Funeral Services will be held 2:00PM Sunday 11/13/22 at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Eupora City Cemetery in Eupora, MS. The Graveside/Committal Services will be held at Oliver Funeral Home instead of Eupora City Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:00PM until 2:00PM Sunday 11/13/22 at Oliver Funeral Home. Rev. Jimmy Jackson will officiate. Pallbearers will be Taylor Ash, Nick Davis, Robbie Hubbard, Brian Hubbard, David Shelby and Steven Crotwell. Joan Batchelor Shelby passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 85 on November 9, 2022, at MS Care Center of Morton, MS. She was born in Ruleville, MS on December 14, 1936. Joan spent most of her life in Eupora, MS where she raised her three children that she was so proud of. Whether it was Mom, Mamaw Joann, Gran or Aunt Jodie that she went by, she was loved by so many. She loved to read and could finish a book in a few hours. She was spunky, loving, and fashionable with her big earrings, big sunglasses, and a ring on every finger. Joan was always the biggest fan of her children and grandchildren. She was definitely one of a kind who will be missed dearly. Her last 17 years Joan lived in Forest, MS, with her daughter and son-in-law who was like her second son. Joan lived a full and blessed life and is rejoicing in the arms of Jesus. Joan was preceded in death by her mother Mary Etta Jones Batchelor, her father Olen Crowder Batchelor Sr., her sisters Velma Martin Scherio and Doris Batchelor Kelly, her brothers Olen Crowder Batchelor Jr. and James Wade Batchelor, her former husband Dorrye Wayne Shelby, her beloved son Michael Wayne Shelby which she referred to as “My Mike”, and her granddaughter Tiffani Smith Juarez. She is survived by her daughters Debbie Shelby Dees of Ridgeland, MS and Laurie Shelby (Don) Elkins of Forest, MS; her daughter-in-law Shelley Faye Shelby of Hattiesburg, MS; her grandchildren Amber Elkins (Taylor) Ash of Carrollton, GA, Kelli Elkins(Nick) Davis of Forest, MS, Nathan Michael (Taylor) Shelby of Pope, MS, Katheryn (Cody) Meaux of Lafayette, LA and Michael Jerrod (Kellie) Shelby of Virginia Beach, VA; her greatgrandchildren Quinn, Lizzie and Jennings Ash of Carrollton, GA, Annie and Grace Davis of Forest, MS, Elizabeth, Hermione, Ginny, Maddie and Richard Shelby of Virginia Beach, VA, Olivia and Ethan Meaux of Lafayette, LA, and Christian Juarez of Hattiesburg, MS, her sister Mary Lou Batchelor Bailey of Eupora, MS as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
