James Mike "Jimmy" Mccain Sr.

Funeral Services will be 2:00PM Wednesday 1/24/2024 at Eupora First Baptist Church in Eupora, MS with burial in Eupora City Cemetery. The Graveside/Committal Services will be held at Eupora First Baptist Church instead of Eupora City Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:30PM until 2:00PM Wednesday 1/24/2024 at Eupora First Baptist Church. James Mike “Jimmy” McCain, Sr., was born in Eupora on June 30, 1928 to John Frank and Fannie Mae Ross McCain and passed away at the age of 95 on Sunday January 21, 2024, at North Mississippi Medical Center - Eupora. Funeral Services were held 2:00PM Wednesday, 1/24/24 at Eupora First Baptist Church with burial in Eupora Cemetery in Eupora, MS. Rev. Travis Gray officiated. The music was provided by Bill Stewart, Jr., Dr. John Herring, Terry Cain and Lydia Cain. Pallbearers were; Paul Johnston Jr., Adam Cummings, Cole Cummings, Frank Ballard, Henry Ross, Kit Stovall and Neal Terry. Jimmy graduated from Eupora high School. He was a World War II Veteran, serving in the Marines from 1946 to 1949. He attended Holmes Community College and Mississippi State University. He was a member of the Eupora Jaycees, a charter member of the Eupora Lion’s Club, served on the local school board, served on the Webster General Hospital’s board, and was owner and operator of a retail business in Eupora for 32 years. Mr. McCain was a member of Eupora First Baptist Church where he served as a lifetime deacon and taught a boys Sunday School class for 55 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Frank and Fannie Mae Ross McCain, his brother, Paul McCain, and his sister, Martha McCain Ballard. Mr. Jimmy is survived by his wife of 69 years, Gladys Smith McCain, Eupora, MS, son, James Mike McCain, Jr. and his wife DeAnn, Brandon, MS, daughter, Jane McCain Johnston and her husband Paul, Eupora, MS, four grandchildren: Kimberly Johnston Cummings and her husband Adam; Paul Johnston, Jr. and his wife Stacy; Ashley McCain Stovall and her husband Kit; Olivia McCain Terry and her husband Neal, great grandchildren: Presley, Anna Blaine, and Cole Cummings; Hallie, Abbie, and Ava Kate Johnston; Walker and Eadie Stovall; and James Terry. The Family would like to thank Dr. Jack Huffman and the staff of North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora for their care and support.
