James Boyd Jenkins, Sr., age 90, of Greenwood, MS, and formerly Eupora, MS, passed away at Merit Health River Oaks Hospital in Flowood, MS, on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. He had recently been a resident of Community Place in Brandon, MS. Boyd was born on August 4, 1934, in Choctaw County, MS, to Allen Franklin “Jack” and Arlene Bright Jenkins. His main occupation was as a carpenter, which he greatly enjoyed and took pride in, as he built and remodeled numerous houses. He worked for a time at B & W (Babcock & Wilcox Company) in West Point, MS. He also worked for a time at Baldwin Piano Factory in Greenwood, MS, building piano cases, and at Herschede Hall Clock Company in Starkville, MS, building cases for clocks. Boyd served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was also a Mason. He was a long-time member of Christ Baptist Church in Greenwood, MS. Boyd is survived by his children, Joy Jenkins Card, Eupora, MS, Jimmy Jenkins, Summerville, SC, Janice Jenkins Miller, Charleston, WV and Kenny (Kay) Jenkins, Flora, MS; one sister, Annie Pearl Jenkins (Jr.) Simpson, Eupora, MS; five grandchildren, Nancy Taylor (Scott) Dutrow, James Island, SC, Justin (Heather) Jenkins, Moncks Corner, SC, Matthew Jenkins, San Antonio, TX, Jayden Kendall, Pearl, MS and Jake Beckett, Holcomb, MS; six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Allen Franklin “Jack” and Arlene Bright Jenkins, brother, Bernice Jenkins and twin brother Lloyd Jenkins; sisters Gladys Jenkins Tackett and Ara Lou Jenkins Ray and his daughter, Sandra Kay Jenkins. Funeral Services for Mr. James Boyd Jenkins will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Eupora, MS. The family will receive friends and loved ones for a time of Visitation from 1:00PM until time for services at 2:00PM on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Oliver Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Providence Cemetery in Choctaw County. The Graveside/Committal Services with military honors will be held at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel instead of Providence Cemetery. Rev. Allen Simpson will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Jenkins, Justin Jenkins, Kenny Jenkins and Mike Morgan. Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora is entrusted with all arrangements.
