Mr. Harold Wayne “Wayne” Brasfield, Jr., age 61, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023, at his home in Lodi, MS. He was born in Memphis, TN, on May 24, 1961, to Harold and Irene Ladd Brasfield. He was a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church and an avid Ole Miss fan. Before retiring, he was an employee of Stewart Sandwiches and worked for May’s Farm Fresh Produce. He spent years hauling watermelons throughout Arkansas and Mississippi where he loved meeting new people and making new friends. Selling watermelons was a great joy in his life; however, meeting people and talking with them was an even greater joy. He never met a stranger and would talk with a person until by the end of the conversation, that new-found friend would be smiling and laughing. He touched everyone he met with his humor and his infectious smile. He loved all things sports and spent many years coaching young athletes at Benton Academy, Manchester Academy, and Winona Christian School. He touched the lives of many of those young athletes in ways that we may never know. Many had the opportunity to tell him as adults how he made a tremendous positive impact on their lives as a Christian role model and someone they could count on in any situation. He loved his daughters and grandchildren very much, and though he may not have seen them as often as he wanted, they were always on his mind and in his heart. He and his beloved son enjoyed fishing together in different lakes around Lodi where they laughed, joked, caught a few fish, but mostly talked about life. Wayne is survived by his wife of 30 years, Rhonda Jones Brasfield of Lodi, his son B Brasfield of Lodi, daughters; Heather Brasfield of Livingston, LA, Whitney White of Montgomery, AL, and Cassie Williams also of Montgomery, AL, sisters; Renee Gartman (Mark) of Foley, AL., Risa Owens (Dennis) of Clearwater, FL, Becky Simpson of Collierville, TN, and Florence Rogers of Quanah, TX. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Kyli Ann Brasfield, Jena Grace Brasfield, Linsi Marie Johnson, Grayson White, Jackson White, Luke White, Alex White, and Trooper Williams, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; Harold Wayne Brasfield, Sr. and Irene Ladd Brasfield, brothers; Roddy Reynolds and Doug Reynolds, brother-in-law; Jerry Rogers and brother-in-law; Joel Simpson.
