Funeral Services will be held 2:00PM Friday 3/11/22 at Double Springs Baptist Church in Oktibbeha County MS with burial in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Noon until 2:00PM Friday 3/11/22 at Double Springs Baptist Church. Elmer Doyle Reed, 93, was born on June 26, 1928, in Maben, MS to Charlie Dyle and Ila Fulgham Reed and went home to be with his beloved Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 8, 2022. He was a corporal in the Army and retired from B&W of West Point, MS after 42 years with the company. He was an active member of DSBC where he served as a deacon since 1962. He taught Sunday School, served on various committees, was the church greeter, and was church clerk for 25 years. He also served the sick and shut-in by creating and delivering sermon tapes weekly. He was especially known for his gentle demeanor, servant’s heart, and genuine smile. His close relationship with Jesus was obvious in the way he treated and loved his family and the grace he showed to each person he met. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years; Nellie “Nell” Sue Chesser Reed; two sons Timothy Wayne Reed and Kevin Doyle Reed, his parents; Charlie Dyle and Ila Reed, his sister; Edna Fulgham, and brothers Clyde Reed and Grady Reed. He is survived by his two sons; Derek (Michelle) Reed of Maben, MS and Phillip (Lisa) Reed of Maben, MS; his daughter Molly (Phillip) Seawright of Maben, MS, and his daughter-in-law Kathy Reed, his ten grand-children Courtney (Patrick) Quillen, Kristee (Scotty) Carrithers, Anthony Reed, Shawna (Brad) Williams, Blake (Jennifer) Reed, Lawson Reed, Dyllan (Brailey) Reed, Matthew (Olivia) Seawright, Kayla (Jamie) Hardy, and Austin (Heather) Seawright, his fifteen great-grandchildren; Jordan McCain, Mattee McCain, Aiden Reed, Hadley Rae Williams, Bowen Williams, Kainan Reed, Kinsley Reed, Kambry Reed, Linleigh Kate Reed, Steely James Reed, Cora Kate Seawright, Turner Seawright, Molly Grace Hardy, Trip Hardy, Sophie Seawright, and Fallon Seawright, his sisters Elaine Reeves and Elner Sisk, and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation was at Double Springs Baptist Church of Maben, MS March 11, 2022 from noon until 2:00 PM with the funeral immediately following at 2:00 PM at Double Springs Baptist Church of Maben, MS. Burial followed at the Double Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Martin “Shorty” Carden and Bro. Michael Baham conducted the service. Pallbearers were Anthony Reed, Blake Reed, Lawson Reed, Dyllan Reed, Matthew Seawright, and Austin Seawright. Honorary pallbearers were Scotty Carrithers, Brad Williams, Jamie Hardy, Kainan Reed, Aiden Reed, Bowen Williams, Trip Hardy, and Turner Seawright.
