Edna Ruth Avent Ward was called home to our Lord on Friday, May 13, 2022. She was born on October 24, 1936, in Webster County, Mississippi, to Thomas and Pluma Avent. Edna to all who knew her was a caring individual who spent a lot of her time taking care of others. She married Junior Ward in 1954 and raised three children. She was happily married and dedicated to her children in all aspects of their lives. Edna was a member of Fame Church of God and retired from the Webster County School District. She was an avid gardener with her and her husband really pursuing gardening in their retirement years. They raised not only enough vegetables for their family but enough to share with friends in the community. Growing tomatoes was one of her favorites as well as her famous dill pickles. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Ruth Carol (Chris) Hubbard; grandchildren Monica (Clint) Atkins and Taylor (Chad) Fulgham; great grandchildren Ethan Atkins, Bailey Atkins, and Finley Ruth Fulgham; sisters Mary Lou (Junior) Shepherd, Lorene (Larry) Eubanks, and Irene Shurden; as well as numerous relatives and friends. Loving husband of 55 years, Junior Ward; sons Roger and Scott Ward; parents, Thomas and Pluma Avent; and brothers, T. J., Billy McCoy, and Herman Avent preceded her in death. Funeral services were held 3:00pm Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Eupora with burial in Clarkson Cemetery. Rev. Charles McClellan and Rev. Tommy Temple officiated. The family would like to thank Dr. Ozborn and his staff for the care of Edna. They also want to thank the staff at Vickers Personal Care Home for their care and compassion. Before entering the personal care home, Edna had caregivers who provided her with wonderful loving care.
