Dr. James Thomas Bryant, Sr.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00PM Thursday 1/26/23 at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Self Creek Cemetery in Oktibbeha County, MS. The Graveside/Committal Services will be held at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel instead of Self Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:00Noon until 2:00PM Thursday 1/26/23 at Oliver Funeral Home. Dr. James T. Bryant, Sr., 85, of Webster County, Mississippi passed away at North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora, MS on Sunday, January 22, 2023. Dr. Bryant was born in Pontotoc County, MS on June 19, 1937 to James Charles and Christine High Bryant. Dr. Bryant loved God and his family. He was a member of Lollars Grove Baptist Church in Eupora, MS and pastored churches for 60 years, nine churches in Mississippi, and one church in Louisiana. He graduated from Mississippi College in 1963, furthered his education at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where he received his doctorate degree in 1977. Dr. Bryant even served as Director of Missions for the Webster Baptist Association in Webster County for a number of years. Not only was he a man of God, he was a well appreciated husband of 67 years, a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great great-grandfather. In addition to his parents, Dr. Bryant was preceded in death by a daughter; Rhonda Beach, granddaughter; Emily Beach, two sisters; Frances Bryant and Jamie Barton and brother in law; Harace Barton. He is survived by his wife; Kathleen Oswalt Bryant of Eupora, MS, one daughter; Patti (Danny) Stafford of Mathiston, MS, a son; Tom (Lucy) Bryant of Starkville, MS, and a son in law; Wayne Beach of Bellefontaine, MS, three grandchildren; Amy (Brandon) Hubbard, Bryan Beach and Dianna Phillips, six great grandchildren; Mitch and Madeline Phillips, Conner and Cain Wooten, Lauren Hubbard and Mackenzie Beach, and one great great grandson; Monroe Phillips. Funeral Services for Dr. Bryant were held at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at 2:00PM with Rev. Don Parish officiating. Burial followed at Self Creek Cemetery in Oktibbeha County, MS. Pallbearers were Cain and Conner Wooten, Bryan Beach, Brandon Hubbard, Roger and Jeremy Shivers The family requests that memorial donations be sent to St. Jude or the Baptist Children's Village
