Dorothy Jean Fulgham Shurden

Dorothy Jean Fulgham Shurden age 91, passed away July 1, 2024, at Diversicare in Eupora, MS. Mrs. Dorothy was born on September 18, 1932, in Pontotoc, MS to Phillip Sip Fulgham and L. Ada Reed Fulgham. She graduated from Starkville High School and married Oscar Loyd Shurden on July 9, 1950. She was a devoted homemaker and loved taking care of her family. She was a faithful member of Blythe Creek Baptist Church where she taught a Children's Sunday School Class and Vacation Bible School for fifty plus years as long as her health allowed. She kept a spotless house and put up numerous vegetables in the freezer that her husband planted. Dorothy is survived by one daughter; Sandra (Jimmy Dale) Williams, Mathiston, MS, one son; Randy (Melanie) Shurden, Byram, MS, one daughter-in-law; Cindy Shurden, Mathiston, MS, one sister; Betty May, West Point, MS, eight grandchildren; Keith (Samantha) Williams, Kristi (Kendale) Durham, Brandi (Joey) Fiebig, John Randle (Hope) Shurden, Jr., Michael (Paige) Shurden, Kailen (Jonathan) Reeves, Kristopher Austin and Kyle Austin and fourteen great grandchildren; Mary Grace Fiebig, Aaron Fiebig, Levi Durham, Kylie Williams, Caleb, Dylan, Layla, Mia, Kade, Rhett and Reece Shurden, Gwendolen, Lydia and Maxwell Reeves. She is preceded in death by her husband of 72 years; Osacr Loyd Shurden, one son; Michael Loyd Shurden, her parents; Phillip Sip Fulgham and L. Ada Reed Fulgham, four sisters; Christine Shurden, Ruby Reed, Louise Moultrie and Era Mae Howard and two brothers; Walter and Elwood Fulgham. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Blythe Creek Baptist Church in Choctaw County, MS. Visitation will be 1:00PM until time for services at 2:00PM Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Blythe Creek Baptist Church. Interment will be at Blythe Creek Cemetery in Choctaw County, MS. The Graveside/Committal Service will be held inside Blythe Creek Baptist Church instead of Blythe Creek Cemetery. Rev. Todd Chesser will officiate. Pallbearers will be Kendale Durham, Joey Fiebig, Caleb Shurden, John Shurden, Michael Shurden and Keith Williams. Honorary Pallbearers will be James Alford, Doug Dodd, Charles Fondren, Junior Grantham, Jerry Riggan, Tim Shurden and Howard Shurden. Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora is in charge of all arrangements.
