Funeral Services will be held 2:00PM Thursday 11/3/22 at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery in Webster County, MS. The Graveside/Committal Services will be held at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel instead of Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be Noon until 2:00PM Thursday 11/3/22 at Oliver Funeral Home. Dorothy Jean Ray Atkins, 84, passed away on November 1. 2022 after a long battle with heart related issues and cancer. Funeral Services were held 2:00PM November 3, 2022 at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Webster County MS. Rev. John Herring officiated. Dorothy Jean was born on August 22, 1938 to George Warren Ray and Mollie Hubbard Ray in Houston, MS. Dorothy was a graduate of Eupora High School in 1957. On May 16, 1956, Dorothy Jean Married her high school sweetheart Larry Atkins of Tomnolen, MS. Jean and Larry were married for sixty-six years. Dorothy Jean Ray Atkins worked at Eupora Elementary School for eighteen and a half years. She was fondly known as "Ms. Jean". She loved each child as her own. When Dorothy was not working at school her life was dedicated to her family. Dorothy had a wonderful talent and a passion for her music. She was also an accomplished cook and seamstress. Dorothy Jean was preceded in death by her father, George Warren Ray and mother Mollie Hubbard Ray, brother; Walter Burt Ray and granddaughter Heather Nicole Watson . She is survived by her husband; Larry Atkins, Eupora, Ms, three children; Terrence Lee Atkins, Michael Ray Atkins and Jean Ann Atkins Green all of Eupora, five grandchildren; Michele Atkins (Dane) Milling, Eupora, MS, Jonathan Michael Atkins, Ackerman, MS, Kevin Graham Hawk, Eupora, MS, Kevin Larry (Jessica) Hawk, Kilmichael, MS and Elizabeth Grace Green, Eupora, MS, and six great grandchildren; Breelyn Atkins, Ryleigh Atkins, Aleander Milling, Jonathan Atkins, Jr., Bryan Atkins and Corbin Atkins.
