Donald Charles Wicha age 84, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora, MS. Don was born on March 26, 1940 to Leon Charles Wicker and Vincenta Iacoboni Wicker in Fitchburg, MA. He graduated from Notre Dame Academy, Worcester, MA in 1957 and later graduated from Northwest Louisiana University. Mr. Wicha met the love of his life, Hazel Louise Halford and the two were married on September 21, 1960. Don retired from the United States Air Force with over 20 years of service including Security Air Police, Special Agent, Office of Special Investigations and Defense Investigative Services. He began his young career on Security Detail for the Royal Japanese Family in 1957 and later served on the Nuclear Security Details in the Indo-Pacific. In 1963 he graduated from the Office of Special Investigation Academy. During the Vietnam War he was the Special Agent in charge of the Counter Intelligence Division and Foreign Intelligence Collection regarding Security and Criminal Activities in the Pacific Theatre. He finished his career with Defense Investigative Services where he earned the Meritorious Service Medal. Don then served the State of Mississippi Department of Corrections for 22 years. He also served the Webster County Sheriff’s Department and Eupora Police Department for almost 30 years. He was a highly decorated Military and Law Enforcement officer. Don received commendations medals and held lifetime memberships with the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and multiple law enforcement associations. Don is survived by two sons, Ken (Melissa) Wicha, Eupora, MS and Bob (Teresa) Wicha, Florence, MS; five grandchildren, Candie (Cliff) White, Sunnie (Will) Bradshaw, Chase (Micie) Luke, Ashley (Thomas) Whitten and Todd (Sara) Wicha and thirteen great grandchildren, Davis, Ethan, Dustin, Brannon, Mason, Calynn, Kayden, JW, Dom, Mia, Trevor, Dallas, and Scarlett. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Hazel Louise Halford Wicha; both parents, Leon Charles Wicker and Vincenta Iacoboni Wicker; one sister, Janet Wilson; one brother, David Wicker; one granddaughter, Tiffanie Bell and one great grandson, Brooks Whitten. Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, March 10, 2025, at Hebron Cemetery in Webster County, MS. The Wicha family will receive friends and loved ones for a time of visitation from 12Noon until 2:00PM on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Oliver Funeral Home in Eupora, MS. Rev. Hugh Bland and Rev. Willy Weddle will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Dustin Barnett, Bill Forster, Joe Hays, Benny Neal, Chase Luke and Thomas Whitten. The family requests that in lieu of flowers all memorials can be made to the VFW Veterans Relief Fund. Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora is honored to be entrusted with all arrangements for the Wicha family.
