Celia Johnson Hood

Celia Johnson Hood, 95, of Eupora died Aug. 24, 2022, at North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora.A Private Family Memorial Service will be held at a later date. She was born June 21, 1927, in Webster County to the late Dennis Russell "Dent" Johnson and Ola Watson Johnson.After graduation from Eupora High School in 1944, she attended Wood Junior College and graduated there in 1946. She taught school at Springhill for two years. After this, she continued her education at Mississippi Southern College in Hattiesburg, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and began teaching again. She retired from teaching in 1980. She was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, where she had served as a Sunday school teacher and as a member of the Cemetery Committee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Oscar Hood; two sisters, Odean Baker and Mildred Eldridge; and one brother, James Johnson. Survivors include two sons, David Hood (Gerry) of Eupora and Russell Hood (fiancee Susan Vaughn) of Eupora; a daughter, Linda Hood Graham (Gary) of Prairieville, La.; three grandchildren, Lauren Hood Smith (Josh), Anna Hood Young (Cole) and Jade Ruby Graham (fiancee Kevin Tippett); and seven great-grandchildren, Langston Smith, Walter Smith, Marla Grace Smith, Brister Smith, Thomas Young, Taylor Young and John Thomas Tippett.
